2025 Artist of the Globe Gala Piece

Our 2025 nominees had the incredible opportunity of performing a piece in the Gala by the iconic British choreographer Sir Richard Alston, for which we have been officially granted performance rights.
Richard Alston is widely celebrated as one of the most influential figures in contemporary dance. Known for his musicality, clarity of form, and movement style, Richard has created over 50 works for his own company and many others worldwide.
A former Artistic director with Ballet Rambert & Founder of the Richard Alston Dance Company, his choreography has left a lasting mark on the global dance landscape.
The piece was taught and rehearsed by Hannah Kidd, Head of Education at Rambert Grades and a former dancer with the Richard Alston Dance Company, bringing a wealth of insight and experience to the process.

Contemporary solo that scores 90 points or above and be placed in the Upper Division for the Finals

Dancer of the Globe is a prestigious competition held for our Contemporary categories at our Finals, where the most exceptional Contemporary dancers from around the world are nominated to compete for the ultimate title: Artist of the Globe
The competition is divided into two age divisions:

Young Artist of the Globe: 10–13 years
-
Artist of the Globe: 14 years and above
This elite platform is designed for dancers who aspire to a professional career in contemporary dance. Competitors will gain invaluable exposure to world-renowned industry leaders and choreographers, as well as the chance to connect, collaborate, and be inspired by talented dancers from across the globe.
At the Finals these nominated dancers will take part in a compulsory marked scholarship style class. This will be scored by a panel of our Contemporary Dance School Directors at our Finals.
In addition to the competition itself, nominated dancers will also take part in a special Gala performance and professional video shoot, further showcasing their artistry on an international stage.
Participation is by nomination only, with dancers receiving their nominations at the Qualifiers.

POEM WITHOUT WORDS
Young Artist of the Globe 2025 Gala Performance featured a contemporary piece “Poem without words” by the choreographer Vidya Patel from Rambert Grades. Thankyou to Vidya & Rambert Grades for allowing us to perform this piece!
Vidya Patel has choreographed for a range of prestigious institutions and companies across the UK, reflecting her growing influence as a dance-maker. She has created commissioned works for the Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and Rambert School to name a few.
The piece was taught and rehearsed by Natalie, Rambert Grades co‑devisor, examiner, and delivering artist.
