REGLAS DE LA TEMPORADA 2025-2026

CODE OF CONDUCT

​

Global Dance Open is committed to providing a safe, positive, respectful and supportive environment where dancers from around the world can perform, compete and celebrate their achievements.

This Code of Conduct applies to all dancers, dance teachers, studio directors, parents, guardians, supporters and any other person attending or participating in a GDO event.

1. Respect & Sportsmanship

  • All participants and attendees must treat dancers, teachers, other dance schools, judges, GDO staff, venue staff and fellow audience members with respect at all times.

  • Bullying, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, intimidation, aggression or abusive language will not be tolerated.

  • Competitors are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and respect the achievements of others, regardless of results or placements.

  • Booing, mocking, deliberately distracting competitors or any behaviour intended to negatively affect another dancer's performance or experience is not permitted.

  • Celebrating your own or your school's achievements should always be done respectfully and must not involve belittling or disrespecting other competitors or schools.

 

2. Communication & Concerns

  • Dancers and parents/guardians should not approach GDO staff regarding scores, results, qualification decisions or concerns relating to a routine.

  • Any questions or concerns should first be directed to the dancer's dance teacher or studio director, who may raise the matter with the appropriate GDO representative or Head Office.

  • All communication with GDO staff must remain respectful and professional.

  • Aggressive, abusive, threatening or repeated inappropriate communication towards GDO staff will not be tolerated.

 

3. Judges & Results

  • GDO judges are independent, and their decisions regarding artistic and technical assessment are final.

  • Dancers, parents, guardians, teachers and supporters must not approach judges during a GDO event to discuss scores, placements, qualification decisions or another competitor.

  • Judges must not be contacted privately or through social media regarding GDO results or judging decisions.

  • Any attempt to pressure, intimidate, influence or improperly communicate with a judge will be considered a serious breach of the Code of Conduct.

  • Disagreement with a score, placement or qualification decision does not justify abusive or inappropriate behaviour towards judges, staff or other competitors.

 

4. Parents, Guardians & Supporters

  • Dance schools are responsible for making their dancers and accompanying parents/guardians aware of the GDO Code of Conduct.

  • Parents, guardians and supporters are expected to behave respectfully towards all competitors, schools, staff and judges.

  • Parents/guardians should raise competition-related concerns through their dance teacher or studio director rather than directly with judges or event staff.

  • GDO reserves the right to ask any parent, guardian or supporter whose behaviour is disruptive, aggressive, abusive or inappropriate to leave the event.

 

5. Backstage Conduct

  • All dancers and teachers must follow the reasonable instructions of GDO backstage staff and venue staff.

  • Backstage and warm-up areas must remain safe, respectful and organised.

  • Deliberately distracting, obstructing or interfering with another competitor while they are preparing or performing is strictly prohibited.

  • Participants must respect the costumes, props and personal belongings of other dancers and schools.

  • Access to restricted backstage areas is limited to authorised persons.

  • Any behaviour that creates a safety risk to dancers, staff or other attendees may result in removal from the backstage area or event.

 

6. Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination

  • GDO has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, discriminatory abuse or targeted intimidation.

  • This applies to behaviour directed towards dancers, teachers, parents/guardians, judges, GDO staff, venue staff and other attendees.

  • This rule applies to behaviour at GDO events and to conduct directly connected with a GDO event that takes place online or through electronic communication.

  • Serious incidents may result in immediate action by GDO Head Office.

 

7. Social Media & Online Conduct

  • The same standards of respectful behaviour expected at a GDO event also apply to online conduct relating to GDO events.

  • Participants and attendees must not use social media or other online platforms to bully, harass, threaten or intimidate competitors, Judges, GDO staff or other dance schools.

 

8. Safeguarding & Privacy

  • The privacy and safety of all dancers, particularly children and young people, must be respected at all times.

  • Photography or filming is strictly prohibited in changing areas, dressing rooms and any other areas designated as private.

  • Participants must comply with any photography and filming restrictions communicated by GDO or the venue.

  • Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately to an appropriate GDO representative.

  • Participants and attendees must comply with all GDO rules regarding photography, filming, livestreaming and the recording or sharing of performances. Unauthorised recording or distribution of performances may result in removal of content and/or further action by GDO.

 

9. Venue & Property

  • All participants and attendees must respect GDO venues, dressing rooms, theatres, equipment and property.

  • Deliberate damage, theft or misuse of GDO, venue or another participant's property will not be tolerated.

  • Dance schools and attendees may be held responsible for costs arising from deliberate damage caused by their dancers or accompanying attendees where appropriate.

  • All venue safety rules and reasonable instructions from GDO and venue staff must be followed.

 

10. Breaches of the Code of Conduct

GDO reserves the right to take appropriate action where this Code of Conduct is breached. The action taken will depend on the seriousness and circumstances of the incident and may include:

  • A verbal or written warning.

  • Removal from backstage or another restricted area.

  • Removal of an individual from the venue.

  • Disqualification where the breach directly involves a competitor or affects the fairness or safety of the competition.

  • Restriction or exclusion from future GDO events in cases of serious or repeated misconduct.

  • Referral to venue security or the relevant authorities where appropriate.

 

Serious misconduct may result in immediate action without a prior warning.

All decisions regarding breaches of the Code of Conduct will be made by GDO Management. GDO reserves the right to take reasonable action necessary to protect the safety, wellbeing and integrity of its events.
